I Have a Rebellious Spirit and Nothing Holding Me Back
I knew that I wanted to work and live abroad, but accomplishing this on my own felt hopeless. The mental hurdle was the biggest problem.
I couldn’t shake off the feeling that I needed to be living in Italy! But, I didn’t know how to get there.
Originally I thought I might save up, quit my job, and teach English for a few years until I either ran out of money or got kicked out for living in Italy illegally.
But the thought of doing that made me queasy.
That path seemed so unrealistic and stressful. Plus this definitely was not furthering my career.
I looked for work for a year with no success.
When my current work was starting to feel unbearable, I finally clicked an ad I saw for Your Global Career. After attending the webinar, I was hooked.
Lynze made it seem like I could have a dog in this fight! After our first phone call, I joined the program.
Your Global Career sent me on a journey to a dream that I previously thought was impossible because of visas and language barriers.
I am happy to say that today I have accepted a job in my new field of work (education) with a small company in downtown Milan.
The position is a step up from my past work (i.e. not entry-level) and it aligns well with the work I’ve done in the US, but with an international scope.
I negotiated for flexibility in my work schedule so I can attend Italian language classes outside of work.
Through Your Global Career I learned I’m sharper and more assertive than I thought!
Originally I felt incapable of returning to the education industry after a 3 year hiatus. But after starting the YGC journey, I see that:
I became confident in networking and interviewing, rather than nervous.
Before Lynze I had no idea of the other tools and strategies for job searching, and Lynze has opened my world to new possibilities.
It’s not just about sending your resume to a million places and hoping that one sticks.
Your Global Career changed my mindset, armed me with tools and networking strategies, and sent me on a journey to a dream that I previously thought was impossible because of visas and language barriers.
Also worth noting — YGC was less expensive than my original plan of spending my savings account to go teach English abroad for a year. And YGC will lead to a full-time career job with benefits and fair pay!
So I am literally progressing my career, rather than pressing “pause”.
Now I am most excited for the adventure of immersing myself in the Italian culture– to navigate a new city, speak a new language, and make connections in a country that is fascinating to me!
I knew that I wanted to work and live abroad, but accomplishing this on my own felt hopeless. The mental hurdle was the biggest problem.
Before the program I had no idea how to leverage my skills in order to make a career transition; I simply did not even know
Before the program, I had been job hunting for international roles for over a year. I was feeling discouraged. I did not have a network
